Fr. Tom joined the 1st graders for their annual pumpkin prayer. As he carved the pumpkin he explained how we open the top of the pumpkin to symbolize the clearing of our minds. Then we take out what is inside which symbolizes our sins. Two hearts are cut out for eyes so that we can look through our eyes with love for each other. A cross is used for the nose for all the times we have turned up our noses at someone. We need to be reminded that God wants us to be kind and not to turn up our nose. The ears are cut like bibles so we can hear the word of God. Lastly, the mouth is shaped like a fish to symbolize sharing our Christianity through our words.
