The St. Francis Xavier Girls on the Run (GOTR) Team hosted a pancake breakfast that Each season Girls on the Run Teams are asked to organize a community impact project and the girls work together to brainstorm, plan and then execute a project that will help others.
This year the 3rd-5th grade girls decided they wanted to focus their efforts on helping flood victims in our community. The girls worked hard to earn the food item donations and then volunteered their time to put on the event, which served 200 people and raised $800 for community members in need!! They also used the occasion to honor area first responders by inviting area police, fire and EMS to join them for a complimentary breakfast that morning.
We were joined by several first responders, including Officer Richard O'Connor (Middleton Police Department) who is also a softball coach to GOTR team members Kaitlyn Yingling and Danica Nolte.
The girls would like to share a special thanks to the middle school National Junior Honor Society Students that helped them put on the breakfast as well as Mr. Abshire, Ms. Sielaff and the many parent volunteers who pitched in!
