Community Helpers

Our 4K class is learning about community and the various community helpers.  They are learning that all jobs are important and help make our community great. They had several special guests stop by to talk about their jobs within our community.

Mr. Swanson talked to us about being a banker and taught the students about saving money and spending money and even gave them a special $1 coin to keep! He also told students about how banks can help our community grow.

Mrs. Swanson visited to tell us all about being a nurse. She read a story about what nurses do and talked to students about ways we can try to stay healthy (like washing our hands, using our elbows when we cough or sneeze, visit the doctor for checkups). She went through some of the class doctor toys and talked about what each was used for. Then she let each student use a real stethoscope to listen to their own heartbeat!

Ms Catherine, the Children's Librarian at the Rosemary Garfoot Public Library, visited along with her student teacher Nong.  They read a story, sang songs and talked about how important libraries and free books are to people in the community.

Fr. Tom visited as well and lead students on a tour of the Church, Chapel  and Sacristy.  Students got to sit in Fr. Tom's chair on the altar and learned about the baptism font and the tabernacle.
