St. Francis Xavier Technology teacher, Ms. Corey Sielaff and Librarian, Tonya Tubbs, organized the event at St. Francis Xavier this year, where students got to get out of their traditional classroom setting and pick from several activities including robotics, Raspberry Pi Computer Coding, scratch coding, soldering, STEM Challenge cards, Legos and more. There was also a fun obstacle course set up in the gym and a group of students who were cooking up snacks for the event in the school kitchen.
Although an event of this scale is only done annually, our teachers strive to
consistently incorporate STREAM (Science, technology, religion, engineering, art and music) into their everyday curriculum. Incorporating the arts, technology and
engineering help students to express themselves and develop problem solving skills. During the winter months, middle school students also have the opportunity to
participate in STREAM lunches in our technology lab over their lunch recess time.
